The Xunta opens the call of subsidies of the program “Or teu Xacobeo”

The Department of Culture and Tourism today published in the Official Journal of Galicia the call of subsidies to new projects to boost the Xacobeo 2021 inside the program, or TEU Xacobeo.

The goal is to convert the Xacobeo 21 in the more participatory approach which, until now, promoting transparency and equal opportunities. Thus, for the first time, any citizen or entity, both public and private, can present their proposals to carry out in the anteroom of the next Holy Year.

Endowed with an investment of 2 million euros, or TEU Xacobeo granted, in regime of competitive, subsidies to new projects of dynamization throughout this 2019 and until April 2020. Through this initiative, the Galician Government seeks to involve and encourage the participation of all actors in society to design together a socio-cultural programming that anticipates the Xacobeo 21 and its impact.

In this way, you will define together its contents from a multidisciplinary perspective and plural, driving at the same time the sustainable development of the territory. These may be eligible for financial aid for three different types of applicants: local entities (municipalities gallegos, associations of municipalities, local consortia and the provincial councils), private entities (natural or legal persons constituted under civil or commercial form and the communities of goods which are covered by the definition of small and medium-sized businesses) and public or private non-profit organizations.

In the case of public entities, opens a line of 875,000 euros, thanks to which the municipalities of less than 3000 inhabitants will receive up to 10,000 euros per project; those of 3000 to 10,000 inhabitants, a maximum of 15,000 euros per project; 10,000 to 50,000 inhabitants, up to 25,000 euros per project; and more than 50,000 inhabitants a maximum of 50,000 euros. For private entities, shall be 825,000 euros that will cover a maximum of 60% up to 25,000 euros. Finally, for-profit entities are recorded 300,000 euros, with support by the 90 per cent of the project as presented and up to 20,000 euros.

Eligible Areas

Or teu Xacobeo covers a total of five eligible areas: artistic field, heritage-history-thought-spirituality, gastronomy, sports and social field.

The artistic field comprises a wide range of disciplines such as visual arts, architecture, design, digital culture, crafts, fashion, film and documentary, all kinds of music, performing arts (theater, dance, new circus, etc.), literature and book. In the field of heritage, history, thought and spirituality will include forums of reflection, meetings, publications, studies, conferences, training sessions, exchange programs with experts from other nationalities, educational talks in schools, etc.

With regard to the gastronomic area include experiences and activities of high added value, which will help make and enjoy the gastronomic heritage of Galicia approaching visitors and locals a part of the traditions, crafts, culture, history and territorial identity. Also the promotion of products with designation of origin or geographical indications (for example: wine tasting and wine tastings, talks, workshops, training and exchange activities, publications, exhibitions and other).

In the field of sports events are planned in any sport, with special attention to non-professional activities and for all audiences. Include activities and outdoor pursuits such as hiking or organised tours, group classes and also disciplines related to the welfare, promoting active living and joy respectful of nature. Finally, the social sphere contemplates the volunteer programs, social and/or educational that foster inclusion and participation.

In the allocation of subsidies of the projects submitted will be assessed as main criteria of relevance, quality of content and activities, communication and dissemination, viability and sustainability. Thus, it will be evaluated if they conform to the objectives and priorities of the strategy of the Xacobeo 2021 specified in the guidelines adopted by both the Council of St James at the national level such as the Organizing Committee of the Xacobeo 21 in Galicia. Also take into account how they are implemented in practice or the extent to which contributes to the dissemination of the values and objectives associated with the Holy Year.

The submission of applications shall preferably be made by electronic means through the standard form available in the electronic headquarters of the Xunta de Galicia. The term ends on 15 February.
